Creating opportunity for pupils
I am delighted to announce that the new school at Roundswell will open in September 2020, in a new purpose built school with 21st century facilities providing places initially for both reception and nursery children. Thereafter a new group of reception and nursery children will be admitted annually, as the school slowly builds the number of pupils on roll.
Every child at Roundswell Community Primary Academy will be valued and nurtured. The school will be a vibrant place where every pupil will flourish and succeed. Our pupils will develop a deep understanding of the world; both the world we know and the world we do not know - yet! We will ensure that every child recognises what it takes to succeed, sets aspirational goals and enjoys learning, working hard to achieve with the support of a highly qualified and dedicated team of education and care professionals.
The school will have specialist facilities for drama, sport, food technology, science, art and environmental education, facilities normally found in secondary schools. The school will also have the latest in IT technology to support mobile IT devices across the school. The curriculum will be broad with the highest expectations of each child in the core curriculum of mathematics and English, as well as project based learning to ensure each child develop secure knowledge, skills and understanding across the subjects. More importantly we want our children to develop confidence, resilience and empathy coupled with good manners in a secure, warm and inviting school. Relationships with parents are critical to your child's well-being and learning, so the school will work in partnership at all times.
The Tarka Learning Partnership, a local Trust of six schools including the Park Community School to which Roundswell Community Primary Academy will feed, has supported the development of this new school over the last four years working in partnership with the Department of Education and Devon County Council. In the Autumn term 2019 our new Head Teacher will be appointed. Emma Stubbs, the School's Business Manager, currently located in offices at Newport Community School, has already been appointed and is happy to answer any enquiries on 01271 443120.
Roundswell Community School Primary Academy has an exciting future, with building commencing in September 2019, ready for moving in as the term begins in September 2020. I hope you will share the journey with us and become part of the Roundswell family as we open doors at a special event next year. I look forward to working with you and your family.
