Creating opportunity for pupils
Dear Parent,
I am delighted to announce that the new school at Roundswell opened in September 2020, in a new purpose built school with 21st century facilities providing places for both reception and nursery children. Each year we will admit new nursery and reception children and the school will slowly grow over the next six years.
Every child at Roundswell Community Primary Academy is valued and nurtured. The school is a vibrant place where every pupil flourishes and succeeds. Our pupils develop a deep understanding of the world; both the world we know and the world we do not know - yet! We will ensure that every child recognises what it takes to succeed, sets aspirational goals and enjoys learning, working hard to achieve with the support of a highly qualified and dedicated team of education and care professionals.
The school has specialist facilities for drama, sport, food technology, science, art and environmental education, facilities normally found in secondary schools. The school also has the latest in IT technology to support mobile IT devices across the school. The curriculum is broad with the highest expectations of each child in the core curriculum of Mathematics and English, as well as project based learning to ensure each child develops secure knowledge, skills and understanding across the subjects. More importantly we want our children to develop confidence, resilience and empathy coupled with good manners in a secure, warm and inviting school. Relationships with parents are critical to your child's well-being and learning, so the school will work in partnership at all times.
The Tarka Learning Partnership, a local Trust of eight schools including the Park Community School to which Roundswell Community Primary Academy will feed, has supported the development of this new school over the last four years working in partnership with the Department of Education and Devon County Council.
Roundswell Community School Primary Academy has an exciting future and I look forward to working with you and your family.
